Freestanding Signs

Wide freestanding signs will often stay in position under their own weight. It is wise to put down a hardcore pad to sit the stone on to avoid it sinking into soft ground.

Narrow stones such as slabs will require concreting into the ground. We advise you either engage a local tradesman to install such pieces or ask us to quote for supply and installation.

Blocks are supplied on a 100mm bed suitable for building into brick or masonry walls as they are built. If your wall is brick or coursed stone it is worthwhile ensuring the dimensions of the sign will match the courses exactly to avoid ugly half courses.

We are also able to retro fit blocks to existing structures

Screw fixing - Your plaque will be drilled with countersunk holes and supplied with stainless steel screws and plastic wall plugs.

Simply offer the plaque up to the wall where it is to be fixed, mark through the holes onto the wall, remove the plaque, drill the wall to the depth and width to accept the wall plugs and then screw fix.

Hidden fixings - Your plaque will be supplied with threaded stainless steel bars fitted in the corners, a mounting template and instructions. Simply line up the template, drill the holes where indicated, fill the holes with epoxy resin (not supplied but available from B&Q) and push the sign into place. Support until set, usually 10 mins.

Plaques are intended to be either screw fixed or mounted using hidden fixings.
